I’m so proud to be a part of the extremely generous and supportive RE/MAX family. One of my favorite parts of our conferences is always the fundraising, especially when accompanied with a few tears after a few words from surviving champion kids.

Last month in Whistler at our national RE/MAX Conference we raised $118,000 for Children’s Hospital at our auction, surpassing previous record set in 2012 by $33,000! This is a generous group that deeps deep to give.

Part of that was from my friend and colleague Bruce Johnson’s cross Canada epic motorcycle ride this summer which our team sponsored and I had the pleasure of joining Bruce for the final leg riding under sunny skies down the island from Comox Valley to Mile Zero in Victoria.

It’s an interesting time in real estate with so many different factors to consider when trying to speculate what will happen next, will prices continue to rise, flatten or fall. Many of the media reports we see speak very generally of national market conditions and price movements which we know vary substantially provincially, regionally and even within various property types, price ranges and neighbourhoods in individual cities.

It makes simple economic sense that the recent mortgage rule changes will have a negative impact on consumer demand and slow the market, as intended.
