Bear Wear 2013

The Neal Estate Team is a proud supporter and participant of Bear Wear starting the holiday season off every year at the Hotel Grand Pacific to raise money for the Children's Health Foundation of Vancouver Island . The Foundation provides financial assistance for programs, equipment & services that support the health and well-being of children and youth in need and their families on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. Last year's Bears raised an amazing $25,297! We went all out this year to reach our goal of exceeding last year's amount raised. Bears are purchased, dressed, displayed, and voted for. All votes get entered into a raffle and the winner gets to take home their favorite dressed bear and everything displayed with it! The Neal Estate Team thought long and hard to devise the Bear in the Hat, as this is a fundraiser for the children, we thought we would make a bear that the kids would love! The Cat in the Hat is an iconic book written by the one and only Dr. Seuss. We believe Dr. Seuss encourages many strong and powerful messages in his books, "Today you are You, that is truer than true; there is no one alive who is Youer than You" ,"To the world, you may be one person; but to one person you may be the world", "Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple” and we are proud to have our Bear in the Hat displayed and raising money for a great cause! The Children's Health Foundation of Vancouver Island have a first edition signed copy of The Cat in the Hat located at Queen Alexandra, on display in a glass case — at children's height — in the main entrance.

Our Bear is dressed as the Cat from The Cat in the Hat, displayed with: Thing 1 and Thing 2, multiple Dr. Seuss books (Green Eggs and Ham, my personal favorite Oh, The Places You Will Go, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, Mr. Brown can Moo can you?, The Cat in The Hat, and ABC), The Cat in the Hat DVD, the Cat in the Hat Board Game (for children 4+), some delicious candy (lollipop, gumballs, and Jelly Bellys) and who could forget the FISH (you must see for yourself)! Bears can be viewed and voted for in the lobby of the Hotel Grand Pacific until January 2, 2014. Donations can also be made online through the giving page and will be credited towards the Bear in the Hat and count as votes for the People''s Choice Award.
