RE/MAX Conference

Last week we hosted our 28^th RE/MAX Canada Conference here in sunny and beautiful (and a bit foggy) Victoria. It was attended by over 400 of the finest RE/MAX agents from across Canada and even a few friends from the USA. I attended every session I was able to (some breakouts leave you wanting to be in more than one place at the same time) which included Effective Social Media Marketing, Apps For Business, Understanding Generational Differences, Terry Bradshaw, former NFL superstar quarterback, spoke and was inspiring, as was our RE/MAX Founder Dave Liniger.

I personally hosted events outside of the formal agenda including a very well attended cocktail party for about 200 visiting friends in the lower level of Milestones directly on the Inner Harbour, a golf game with 32 participants and attended an excellent WHL hockey game (that finished after OT in a shootout) with a few dozen out of town RE/MAX friends too.

I love our RE/MAX conferences! Since my third month with RE/MAX in 1998 I've only missed a couple attending more that 30 of them including our annual RE/MAX Western Canada Award Conference, our annual RE/MAX International Conference held usually in Las Vegas and bi-annual Canadian Conference. Every one presents opportunities without fail to listen, laugh and learn together with fabulous colleagues from all over the globe. I've networked and learned with and from the very best, I've been an invited guest speaker several times, made fabulous friends who are now like family, received and shared great business and marketing insights, been inspired by amazing motivational speakers and partied round the clock.

After so many conferences each one literally feels like a big happy family reunion all the while still meeting new friends each time and continuing to expand my vast network. The quality of people and caliber of their success in business is phenomenal, it's simply an awesome group to spend time rubbing shoulders with. This includes the very supportive RE/MAX Regional and Corporate staff who I always look forward to seeing too.

Not only have I been able to grow and shape my business with all I have learned and absorbed always learning ways to raise the bar and to better serve my clients, having met and become friends with literally thousands of top agents from around the globe has consequently resulted in sending and receiving many hundreds of referrals of clients relocating to and from Victoria. Last year alone our team assisted 35 families introduced to us by our out of town RE/MAX colleagues.

Another highlight for me has always been the sense of community and the synergy of community support within RE/MAX. It comes out in full force at our conferences with countless individual and group efforts to raise funds for Children's Hospitals, Breast Cancer and many more causes. RE/MAX Agents in Canada have raised and donated more than $50 Million to Children's Hospitals alone! In our just completed conference well over $30,000 was raised for charities.

When I opened our office in 2005 I was inspired and proud to make our office a "Miracle Office" meaning that all of our agents make a donation in our clients' names to BC Children's Hospital for every property we sell. I look forward to sharing client introductions to the best of the best and seeing all my RE/MAX friends in Vancouver this February for our Annual Awards Conference and then in Las Vegas for our International R4 Conference which will be attended by more than 5,000 associates from the more than 90 countries RE/MAX operates in.
